AUSTIN, Texas – The Tornados women's soccer team will start its 2014 season with a non-conference match at Dallas on Friday. The contest is scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m. at Crusader Field in Irving.
Concordia University Texas is coming off a 6-7-3 campaign (4-4-1 ASC) last fall. The Tornados also advanced to the ASC Tournament for the fourth consecutive season. Thirteen letter winners return for second-year head coach
Heather Primavera, including senior forward
Alex Price and junior midfielder
Nicole Young, both of whom earned all-league laurels last year. Primavera also added eight newcomers to the squad.
The Tornados and Crusaders will meet for the 10th time on Friday. Dallas owns a 7-1-1 advantage over CTX in the all-time series, which dates back to the 1999 season when the Crusaders were members of the American Southwest Conference. Concordia has dropped back-to-back matches against Dallas, including a 2-1 setback last season in Irving.
