St. Thomas ends Concordia Texas' unbeaten streak on Friday, 1-0

HOUSTON –
St. Thomas scored a second-half goal and held on for a 1-0 victory over the Concordia University Texas women's soccer team on Friday at Houston Sports Park.

The Tornados (3-1-1) saw their four-game unbeaten streak come to an end after being shut out for the first time this season.

The two teams were tied at halftime, but a penalty kick goal in the 78th minute gave the Celts the lead for good.

Concordia Texas collected eight shots on the night, including four on target. Lena New paced the attack with four total shots, including two that were saved.

Meanwhile, St. Thomas attempted nine shots, including four on goal.

Megan Frontiera recorded three saves, but allowed the lone goal.

The Tornados will return to action at 2 p.m. Saturday, when the squad travels to face Houston-Victoria.
