BOX SCORE SAN ANTONIO -- The Concordia Texas women's basketball team suffered a 72-61 loss to Trinity Monday night at the Sams Center.
Isis Johnson led the Tornados with 14 points and nine rebounds.
Jaela Dejean added 13 points.
Emily Cullers and Kayla Stroebel each contributed nine points to round out Concordia's high scorers. The Tigers' Elizabeth Balido recorded a game-high 26 points off the bench.
Trinity (3-0) used a 19-8 third quarter run to help put the game away despite a valiant effort by Concordia (0-1).
The Tornados quickly took an early lead, outscoring the Tigers 15-9 in the first quarter. Concordia's momentum carried them to a 31-20 lead with just over five minutes to play in the first half. The Tigers would then close the half on a big 16-4 rally to take a 36-35 lead into the intermission.
Concordia began to mount a fourth quarter comeback, outscoring Trinity 18-17 in the period, but it was not enough.
The Tornados continue the early-season road trip Saturday at Texas Lutheran. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
