BOX SCORE AUSTIN, Texas -- The Concordia Texas women's basketball team earned a 68-37 victory in its home opener over Schreiner Monday night at the Concordia Fieldhouse.
The Tornados' (2-1) big victory was aided by a strong second quarter. During the period, Concordia held the Mountaineers (0-5) without a field goal for the final 7:17 of the half, going on a 14-1 rally in that time span. The Tornados would go into the halftime locker room with a 35-15 lead.
Concordia also had a big fourth quarter, outscoring Schreiner 22-7 in the final 10 minutes of the game.
Emily Cullers led the Tornados with 12 points, all coming from beyond the arc. Her four triples were part of 10 total 3-pointers Concordia made over the course of the night. As a team, the Tornados were 10-of-24 from long range and 23-of-57 overall from the field.
The Tornados return to action Saturday, Nov. 28 at Southwestern. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
