BOX SCORE ABILENE, Texas -- The No. 7-seed Concordia women's soccer team suffered a hard-fought 2-0 loss at No. 2-seed Hardin-Simmons in the American Southwest Conference Tournament quarterfinals Tuesday afternoon.
The Tornados held what has been a very explosive Cowgirls offense to just two goals in the 90 minute contest.
Despite getting out-shot on the goal 9-1 in the first half, Concordia became more agressive in the second half, putting two shots on target to HSU's one.
Kila Hartom kept the Tornados in the contest, making eight saves on 10 total Cowgirl attempts.
Maddison Hoskins had two good looks at the goal in the second half, but HSU keeper Lexi Stinson turned her away twice.
The Cowgirls' Josey Meyer put her team on the board in the 32nd minute, scoring from close range. Then about three minutes later, HSU added another tally when Kami Jones found the top corner of the net. The victors went on to play shutdown defense the remainder of the game.
Concordia finishes the season with a 4-11-1 overall record under first-year head coach
Brad O'Kelley.
