BOX SCORE AUSTIN, Texas -- The Concordia Texas women's basketball team won its sixth straight contest Tuesday night, beating out Texas Lutheran 61-40 at the Concordia Fieldhouse.

Isis Johnson carried the Tornados (6-1) with 18 points and eight rebounds. Kayla Strobel paced the bench with 10 points. Three other CTX players added nine points each. Emily Cullers and Ally Terry also chipped in eight boards apiece.

Concordia got out to an early lead in the first quarter, closing the period on a 21-3 run and ending the stanza at 21-5.  It would maintain a double-digit lead throughout nearly the entire game. CTX held a 40-21 lead at the intermission.

The Tornados' defense, which was ranked first in the conference coming into tonight's game, forced 20 turnovers and held the Bulldogs (3-4) to just 12 field goals the entire game, including five in the first half.

Concordia hosts Rust College in Sunday in the first doubleheader of the season. The action starts at 1 p.m.
