BOX SCORE MARSHALL, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's basketball team opened ASC play with a 73-57 setback at East Texas Baptist Saturday.
The Tornados (7-3, 0-1 ASC) could not get the shots to fall as the Tigers (9-2, 3-0) rolled to their seventh straight victory at the Ornelas Gym.
CTX ended the game 20-of-68 from the floor (29.4 percent) against ETBU's 46.8 percent shooting clip (29-of-62).

Both teams struggled to find their stroke in the first quarter. After battling to a 6-5 score early, neither squad would tally a point for three full minutes. It was at that point ETBU opened a 5-0 run that CTX would immediately answer with a 4-0 spurt. The Tigers ended the opening frame with a 15-12 lead.
The Tornados drew to within one as the second period unfolded, but ETBU created some distance with a short 6-0 run. It looked like Concordia would begin to chip away after Johnson hit a layup to quiet the Tigers, however, ETBU closed out the half on a 17-5 tear to go into the locker room with a 39-23 advantage.
The Tigers controlled the pace in the final half, opening a 25-point lead with just under 5:00 remaining in the fourth. The Tornados were able to close the gap to 14 with a 14-3 rally late in the game.
