Jaela Dejean and
Mercedes Ellison in its 76-56 triumph over Hardin-Simmons Saturday afternoon in Abeline.
The Tornados (10-9, 2-7) performed well from the field throughout the game but sealed the big victory thanks to a solid second-half effort. After going into the intermission with a 36-32 lead, Concordia went on a big 11-4 run in the third quarter to open up the contest. The Tornados stayed hot into the fourth quarter, opening an 11-point advantage.
Hardin-Simmons (8-12, 5-5 ASC) was led by Kourtney Hollifield's 23 points.
Johnson was hot from the floor, making 8-of-11 shots for a team-highs 16 points. Dejean was right behind her with 15 points. She was 6-of-7 from the floor and 3-of-4 at the line. Ellison garnered 10 of her 13 points in the second half.
Ally Terry ended the contest with a team-high nine boards.
The Tornados return home on February 6 for a battle against ASC West rival Mary Hardin-Baylor. Tipoff is at 1 PM.
