AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's basketball team used a 13-0 second quarter run to help surpass East Texas Baptist, 81-60 Saturday afternoon at the Concordia Fieldhouse.

Brenisha Payne tallied a career-high 18 points to lead all scorers on Saturday and helped the CTX bench outscore the ETBU reserves 31-11. Payne also had a team-high six rebounds. Emily Cullers led the Tornado starters with 16 points. Jaela Dejean added 13 points and dished out seven assists. Mercedes Ellison chipped in 12 points.

Concordia sank 13 3-pointers, shooting 56.5 percent from long range for the contest. The Tornado defense was spectacular, forcing 24 Tiger turnovers. CTX also held ETBU to a 40.8 clip for the game, including just 14.3 percent from long range.

The Tornados led wire-to-wire and began to pull away as the second quarter unfolded. Already up 15-9 after the first 10 minutes, CTX took a 12-point lead with 8:58 to play in the second and never let ETBU get within less over the remainder of the contest. Concordia led 40-23 at the intermission.

CTX looks to stay hot against Louisiana College on Monday. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. at the Concordia Fieldhouse.
