CTX Women Fall to Luther College

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Concordia Texas women's basketball team was unable to rally against Luther College in the Tornados' final contest of the Pikes Peak Holiday Classic losing 84-56 on Friday afternoon.

Emily Cullers led the Tornados with a team-high 17 points and six steals. Jaela Dejean and Mercedes Ellison both finished in double figures with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Dejean had seven of her 14 points in the first quarter, but the Norse made five threes and led 29-14 after one quarter. In the second quarter, CTX opened with a 13-2 run after a Brenisha Payne three and cut the deficit to 31-27. Emily Cullers had eight of her 17 points in the quarter including two threes, but Concordia trailed 45-34 at the half.

In the third quarter, the Tornados were unable to close the gap as they were outscored 17-10. Raven Cato was a defensive presence as she tallied three blocks in the quarter. CTX went into the final period trailing 62-44. Unfortunately, the Tornados were unable to hit from the perimeter in the quarter as they shot 4-of-14 from the field and fell to Luther College 84-56.

Concordia is now 9-3 on the season and returns to conference play on Jan. 5 when they will travel to Longview, Texas, to face Letourneau at 5:30 p.m.
