BOX SCORE

AUSTIN, Texas -- The Concordia Texas baseball team got back in the win column with a 5-1 triumph over Texas Lutheran Wednesday evening at Tornado Field.

Both teams scratched one across in the first inning but it was the Tornados who would score the rest of the way. After a walk in the bottom of the second, Connor Bertsch put a charge into a ball to deep right that looked routine for a moment, but the TLU right fielder misplayed the ball. Two runs would come across on the play.

Garrett Benyo and Adam Ortega would add RBI base hits in the bottom of the sixth. Both came with two out in the frame.

Josh Smith picked up the win after three shutout innings of relief work. Lane Hobbs fanned eight of the 14 batters he faced in four innings, picking up his first save.

Concordia wraps up the homestand February 17 when they host No. 7 Trinity. First pitch is at 7 p.m.
