AUSTIN, Texas -- The Concordia Texas athletics department is teaming up with the Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center (HLFCC) to raise funds for its services after an initiative from the women's basketball staff.

HLFCC provides free and confidential assistance to victims of rape and domestic violence, including a 24-hour crisis hotline, food, emergency shelter, emergency food, clothing, transportation, in-shelter counseling, group therapy, outreach, legal advocacy, career services, housing placement assistance, accompaniment to medical services, referral services and help for victims' family members.

HLFCC and CTX are looking to raise funds to help stop the violence and make a change for current victims.

"The women's basketball team is honored to partner with the HLFCC. This partnership allows us to provide financial support to a great organization, but also educate people on what services are available if they find themselves in need," head coach Matt Wallis said.

"When I discussed this opportunity with our team they were completely behind it.  It was the most focused I have ever seen them," he added.

There will be a table set up to take donations along with information about the center at the remaining home baseball and softball games.

The goal is to raise $1,500.

Donations of any kind will be accepted at the softball games beginning March 24 and through the baseball games on April 24.
