BOX SCORE 1 | BOX SCORE 2 PINEVILLE, La. – The Concordia Texas baseball team won its third and fourth contests in a row with a pair of victories over Louisiana College Thursday night behind a wealth of extra-base hits.

GAME ONE – CTX 12, LC 5 (7 inn.)

Adam Ortega's grand slam capped the scoring in an eight-run, six-hit sixth inning for the Tornados that vaulted them to a 12-5 triumph in the series opener at Louisiana College. CTX sent 14 to the plate in that inning. All eight runs were unearned after a throwing error prevented Wildcat pitching from getting out of a bases-loaded jam.

Bret Leiferman and Colton Poindexter both tallied three hits in the contest.

Lane Hobbs went the distance for the win to improve to 6-0, striking out eight. He gave up five runs, all earned, on six Wildcat hits.

GAME TWO – CTX 7, LC 3

Connor Bertsch's two-run double in the top of the seventh helped the CTX baseball team earn the sweep of Thursday's twin bill. Garrett Benyo's earlier RBI sacrifice fly in the frame gave the Tornados a 4-3 lead.

Michael Evan's run on a wild pitch in the fourth evened up the contest at three all.

Adam Ortega doubled and later scored an insurance run in the top of the eighth.

Justin Traxler was credited with the victory in four innings of relief, surrendering only one hit while fanning three.

Race Mellman was 3-for-5 in the game including two doubles and a run scored.

The Tornados and Wildcats conclude the series tomorrow at noon.
