AUSTIN, Texas – Among intermittent heavy rains, the Concordia Texas baseball squad worked its way to a sweep of Belhaven after taking both games of Saturday's twin bill at Tornado Field.

Michael Evan had a fantastic series and was 5-for-6 with five driven in on the day alone.

GAME ONE – Concordia 2, Belhaven 0 (7 inn.)

Michael Evan was 3-for-3 and drove in both Concordia runs in the opener. That's all the Tornados needed in the 2-0 win behind a strong performance from Lane Hobbs.

Caleb Maddox led off the CTX first with a single and scored on one of Evan's RBI knocks. Later, Alex Britz drew a walk. Pinch runner Wilkes Swaim worked his way to third and scored on Evan's second RBI hit.

Hobbs went the distance in the seven inning affair, allowing just three hits and three walks. He struck out seven and improved to 8-1 on the season.

GAME TWO – CTX 12, Belhaven 2 (8 inn.)

Colton Poindexter's two-run homer in the third and Evan's three-run triple in the fifth helped Concordia to a 12-2 eight-inning victory over Belhaven to complete the sweep of the Blazers.

Evan's triple capped a five-run fifth. Adam Ortega's two-run single in the bottom of the eighth allowed the Tornados to walk-off in the run-rule victory.

Ty Bratton worked two innings of scoreless relief and earned the win. Jake Valadez dealt three innings and struck out five. Matthew Brown started the game and yielded two runs on two hits in three-plus innings.

Concordia remains home and hosts LeTourneau starting April 22 at 7 p.m.
