BOX SCORE SEGUIN, Texas -- Twenty-four Tornados saw action Tuesday night in Concordia Texas baseball's 15-3 loss at Texas Lutheran, including nearly all of Concordia's seniors (with the exception of
Josh Smith).
It was TLU's regular-season finale before the Bulldogs begin their post season and the final non-conference game for CTX.
Concordia's
Jake Valadez went 2-for-3 to lead the squad.
Connor Bertsch extended his hitting streak to five games and his on-base streak to eight, both matching season highs.
The Bulldogs (25-13) scored five runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back. The Tornados (24-13) had some opportunities but left 14 on base, including eight in scoring position.
CTX did manage RBI walks from
Landon Lau and
Cameron Rape, but the bats were held to just five hits overall by a committee of TLU pitchers.
The Tornados countered with their own committee of hurlers, with several making noteworthy appearances on the mound.
Anthony Calise made his CTX debut, Bertsch worked two thirds of an inning, striking out two in his first-ever call to the mound, and
Ty Bratton dealt an inning and two thirds, which was a season high.
Concordia will head to Belton, Texas, on Friday for a three-game set at Mary Hardin-Baylor. First pitch of the series opener is scheduled for 7 p.m.
