ALPINE, Texas – The Concordia baseball team overcame a 4-2 hole in game one and trailed 4-0 in game two before coming back in both contests. The Tornados tied the opener at four with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh but fell short 5-4. CTX then found themselves behind 4-0 and then rallied for an 8-6 victory in the nightcap.

GAME ONE – Sul Ross 5, Concordia 4

The Tornados overcame a 4-2 deficit to tie the game at four in the top of the seventh, but the host Lobos got a two-out RBI single from Ely Gallego to walk-off 5-4 winners.

Concordia started the top of the seventh with a couple of walks, both of whom came around to score. Wilkes Swaim drove in the tying run on a groundout.

Starter Lane Hobbs suffered his first loss in a CTX uniform despite picking up eight strikeouts.

GAME TWO – CTX 8, SRSU 6

The Tornados provided late-inning heroics again, this time with a couple of four-run frames to surpass the Lobos 8-6 and take the series, two games to one.

Michael Evan's two-run triple in the top of the eighth put Concordia on top 6-5. Connor Bertsch then doubled Evan home for what proved to be a key insurance run. Bertsch then scored himself on Caleb Rodriguez's RBI single.

While Sul Ross did get a run back in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI single, Justin Traxler retired the only man he faced to pick up his first save of the year. Jake Valadez worked 4 1/3 innings of relief, striking out six.

CTX will travel to Seguin, Texas, on Tuesday to battle a hot Texas Lutheran squad before resuming ASC play Friday against Belhaven at Tornado Field.
