BOX SCORE BROWNWOOD, Texas – Peyton Heilig's penalty kick conversion led the Concordia Texas women's soccer team over Howard Payne Saturday afternoon.
The tally came in the 54th minute, when a Yellow Jackets foul in the box gave resulted in a penalty kick.
Despite only scoring one goal on the day, the Tornados were aggressive on offense throughout the afternoon totaling 11 shots in each half. Freshman Vanessa Lecocq and Heilig had four shots each on the day, both with three on target. Concordia also had six corner kicks overall.
On defense, freshman goalkeeper Shelby Franco had yet another shutout on the season, but the Tornados defense was also stout overall allowing only two shots on goal total, and no corner kicks for the Yellow Jackets.
Concordia stays on the road as they travel to face rival Mary Hardin-Baylor on October 1 at 5 p.m.
