ASC Preview: Women's Soccer take on UMHB

AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's soccer team will appear in its eighth-straight American Southwest Conference Tournament when they take on Mary Hardin-Baylor on Tuesday at 3 p.m.

The Tornados finished the season as the seventh seed in the ASC standings after going 10-7, 6-6 ASC on the year. They enter Tuesday's game with a two-game winning streak after a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Sul Ross State on Saturday.

CTX will take on the Cru, who finished as the two seed and have won 12 of their last 13 games. In their regular season matchup, the Tornados fell to UMHB 6-1 as Pamela Lasprilla provided the lone goal.

CTX has an array of offensive weapons as four Tornados have scored at least seven goals or more on the year, led by Cayla Gonzalez, who has recorded 10 on the season. It is the most goals scored by an individual in a season since Jordan James had 12 in 2012 and is tied for the third for most goals scored in a single season.

Kaycee Moore, meanwhile, has been a weapon off the bench, having scored eight goals on the year in 11 games. Kayla Carlove recorded the first hat trick since 2011 in CTX's win over Texas Lutheran on Sept. 10 and leads the team in assists with four. Lastly, Lasprilla tallied the game-tying goal and provided the assist for the game-winning goal in their victory over the Lobos.

On the defensive side of the ball, Shelby Franco has recorded four shutouts, including most recently a 2-0 shutout of McMurry on Oct. 21. Skylar Larkin has started in 15 games for the Tornados and is the anchor on the back line while also scoring a goal and has three assists on the season.

CTX will be seeking for their first tournament win when they will take on the Cru from the Cru Soccer Field.
