AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Men's Tennis fell 5-1 in their home-opening match against Schreiner on Friday afternoon.
In the doubles matches, the duo of
Victor Escalon and
Isaac Glynn went back and forth in set trailing 5-6, but were unable to break serve, losing 8-6. The team of
Adrian Montes and
Micah Austin battled back and forth against the Mountaineers too, but dropped the pro set 8-6. In the final doubles match of the day, the team of
Zach Haynie and Leo Marches iwere unable to rally against SU's number one doubles team, falling 8-3.
In the singles matches, Montes would win the first match of the day for the Tornados, defeating the Mountaineers' Nick Dena 6-4, 6-2. Haynie would only would be broken once in each of his sets, but was unable to break back in the sets, as he lost 6-4, 6-4. Marchesi was unable to gain a game in the first set against SU's John Christie, and was unable to rally in the second set losing 6-0, 6-3.
The final three singles matches of the day were unable to get underway as a result of time restrictions on the courts.
Up next, CTX will travel to Abilene, Texas to face McMurry on Feb. 19 at 2 p.m.
