AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Men's Tennis team went on the road to LeTourneau, but came up short in an 8-1 loss on Friday night.
In the doubles matches, the Tornados battled against the Yellow Jackets, but were unable to grab a set lead.
Zach Haynie and
Leo Marchesi went back and forth with LETU's Ty Grove and Christian Farris, but ultimately fell 9-8.
Victor Escalon and
Isaac Glynn also went an extra game as they were unable to complete the rally losing 9-7. The duo of
Holt Fields and
Adrian Montes fell behind early and lost the match 8-4.
In the singles matches, CTX once again played close contests, with two of the matches going to a third set. Escalon was up 4-3 in the first set before having to retire from the match.
Isaac Glynn fell in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, while Haynie dropped the first set 6-2, and lost in the second set 6-4.
Marchesi would fall in straight sets, losing in a tiebreaker in the first set and could not pull out the rally in the second set dropping it 7-5. Montes would force a third set in his match, was unable to close out the match losing the third set 6-2. Fields won the lone match for the Tornados as he dropped the first set 6-1, but closed out the match strong, winning the second set 7-5 and made quick work in the third set winning it 6-1.
Up next, CTX will travel to Marshall, Texas to take on East Texas Baptist on Saturday at 10 a.m.
