MARSHALL, Texas – The Concordia Men's Tennis team tried to pick up a road win, but lost 8-1 to East Texas Baptist on Saturday afternoon.
The Tornados went 1-5 in the singles matches.
Holt Fields earned the lone win for CTX, defeating the Tigers' Connor Mason 6-3, 6-4.
Leo Marchesi and
Adrian Montes both fell in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 and 6-2, 6-0 respectfully.
Zach Haynie dropped the first set 6-1, but battled back in the second set only being broken once, but lost 7-5.
Victor Escalon split the first two sets, but dropped the pro set tiebreaker 10-7.
Isaac Glynn would lose the first set 6-3, but forced a tiebreaker in the second set. His rally fell short though, losing 10-4.
In the doubles matches, Haynie and Marchesi only had their serve broken once, but were never able to grab the advantage losing 8-6. Fields and Montes were only able to win a game as they lost 8-1, while
Micah Austin and Escalon came up short in their match, 8-4.
CTX will stay on the road after a schedule change as they will now travel to Georgetown, Texas to face Southwestern in a match that was originally scheduled as a home match. First serve is at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8.
