BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's tennis team swept the singles matches on their way to defeating Howard Payne 6-3 for their first win of the season on Saturday.
The Tornados playing one man short, would open the match trailing 2-1 after the Yellow Jackets would win at line one 8-6 and took line three by default.
Micah Austin and
Isaac Glynn would snag the lone win for CTX, winning at line two 8-3.
In the singles,
Adam Compton would win in straight sets at line one, while
Clayton Hernandez picked up the Tornados' third win of the day after Benjamin Blanchard of HPU retired in the first set.
Austin and Glynn would wrap up their matches in straight sets, while Alejandro Labastida, in his first season with the tennis team, would grab a win at line five 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 for the sixth win of the day for CTX.
The Tornados will next head to Dallas to face UT Dallas at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the UTD Tennis Complex.
