ROME, Ga. – Concordia Texas men's tennis' Joshua Bode took on Carnegie Mellon's Chaz Downing in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Cup consolation semifinals on Friday, coming up short 6-7 (3), 1-6 at the Rome Tennis Center.

Bode entered the consolation side of the ITA Cup bracket after dropping his opening match on Wednesday.

Playing against Carnegie Mellon's Downing, winner of the ITA Southeast Regional, Bode would come up short, falling in straight sets.

In the first set, Bode would go toe-to-toe with Downing, neither player giving up a break point, resulting in a tiebreaker, where Bode lost it 3-7. In the second set, Bode would fall behind early and was unable to recover, dropping it 1-6.

Bode moves to the seventh-place match of the ITA Cup, where he will face Hamline University's Jake Trondson at 9:30 a.m. C.T. at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Ga.
