BOX SCORE ROME, Ga. –
Joshua Bode of the Concordia Texas men's tennis team faced off against Hamline's Jake Trondson in the seventh-place match of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Cup, falling in straight set at the Rome Tennis Center on Saturday.
After suffering a heartbreaking loss on Friday in the semifinals of the consolation bracket, Bode would take on Trondson, who won the ITA Midwest Regional.
Bode would drop the first set 6-1, but would battle back in the second set, being broken only once in the set, but came up short, losing 6-4.
Despite the loss, Bode places eighth in the Tornados' first-ever appearance in the national tournament.
He becomes the program's first-ever All-American as well after winning the ITA Southwest Regional earlier this year, the program's first ITA title in school history, singles or doubles.
The ITA Cup concludes the fall season for the men's tennis program, who will now prepare for their spring season, looking to return to the conference tournament for a fourth straight year.
