AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's soccer team will head to Belton, Texas on Tuesday for a matchup with Mary Hardin-Baylor in the quarterfinals of the American Southwest Conference Tournament.

The Tornados head to their ninth-straight conference tournament, third-longest streak among ASC teams, as the sixth seed after a 6-9 (5-6 ASC) season, facing the three-seeded Cru.

In their regular season faceoff with UMHB on Oct. 12, CTX came up short on the road with a 5-0 losing decision. Goalkeeper Shelby Franco tied her career-high in saves with 12 in the game.

The Tornados will rely on a quartet of scorers that includes Savannah McHam, Pamela Lasprilla, Cayla Gonzalez, and Kaycee Moore, who all have at least four goals on the season.

McHam, a freshman out of Burnet, Texas, leads the team in goals with five on the season, while her freshman teammate Emily Newton leads the team with five assists on the year, sixth-most in a single season in program history and tied for ninth among conference leaders.

Concordia Texas will look to hinder a Cru offense that averages 2.31 goals a game on the year and has the second-leading goal scorer in the conference in Chelsea Graham, who has 11 for the season.

During the regular season, the Tornados held opponents to one goal or less five times, including posting three shutouts. In the net, Franco has tallied 80 saves for the year, sixth in the ASC.

The Tornados will look to reach the ASC semifinals for the first time since the 2011 season and their first win over UMHB since 2012.

Concordia Texas will take on the Cru on Tuesday at 5 p.m. from the Cru Soccer Field in Belton, Texas with the winner advancing to the ASC semifinals, which will be hosted by Hardin-Simmons on Nov. 2.
