SEGUIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's tennis team competed in eight different flights on the first day of the Doc Skogman Invitational on Friday.
The tournament contained eight singles flights and one doubles flight with quarterfinal and semifinal matches being played.
In flight A, coming off as the ITA Southwest Regional champion,
Joshua Bode would fall in both of his Friday matches, while in doubles he would team up with
Esteban Arredondo to with their quarterfinals match by default.
In flight B singles, Arredondo would drop his first match of the day but came back with a win in the semifinals of the consolation side of the bracket 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the final.
Hoanh Le would go 1-1 on the day in flight C, winning his quarterfinals match in a three-set thriller before coming up short in the semifinals.
Adam Compton, meanwhile, would also go 1-1, falling in the semis of flight D 0-6, 3-6.
Jorge Garcia advanced to the final of the flight E consolation bracket after picking up a straight set win in the semifinals.
Ethan Espiritu and Evan Pena will face each other in the final of flight F on Saturday after both won their two matches on the day.
Isaac Glynn is headed to the consolation final of flight G after earning a win by retirement in the semifinals, while
Noah Villarreal will play for the flight H consolation title after notching a win by default in the semis.
Concordia Texas will wrap up the Doc Skogman Invitational on Saturday with finals of the singles to be played from Seguin, Texas.
