BOX SCORE SEGUIN, Texas – In a rain-filled Saturday, the Concordia Texas men's tennis team wrapped up the final matches of the Doc Skogman Invitational, highlighted by
Joshua Bode and
Esteban Arredondo's flight A doubles title.
The Tornados would complete all the singles matches, but many of the doubles finals matches were canceled due to rain.
Bode and Arredondo were able to play before the rain though, winning both doubles matches in flight A, including an 8-6 victory over St. Mary's Bojan Popovic and Jeremiah Gonzalez to claim the doubles title.
On the singles side, Arredondo would fall short in the flight B consolation final, losing in three sets, 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (6).
Adam Compton and
Ethan Espiritu would team up for the flight D doubles, winning their quarterfinal and semifinal matches, including an 8-3 win over Eric Gurtner and Lane Graham to reach the finals, before rain would cancel the match.
Espiritu, in his singles match, would face teammate
Evan Pena Jr. in the finals of flight F with Pena Jr. coming out on top with a 6-3, 6-4 win. Pena Jr. and
Noah Villarreal, meanwhile, reached the doubles final of the flight C consolation before the rain arrived.
Jorge Garcia, playing in the final of the flight E consolation bracket, fell short 5-7, 4-6 to Mace Brasher, while in doubles, him along with
Hoanh Le reached the flight B consolation final.
Isaac Glynn and Villarreal concluded the day for CTX, both coming up short in the flight G consolation final and flight H consolation final, respectively.
