KERRVILLE, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's tennis team grabbed their fourth straight win of the season with a 5-4 victory over Schreiner on Saturday at Cree Tennis Center.
With the win, the Tornados moved to 5-1 on the season and are off to the best start in school history. They also handed Schreiner their first loss of the season.
CTX got two wins in the doubles matches and grabbed three in the singles to get by the Mountaineers.
In the doubles matches, the combinations of
Adam Compton and
Clayton Hernandez won their match 8-4 while
Isaac Glynn and Victor Escalon won 8-6.
In singles, reigning ASC West Division player of the week
Hoanh Le remained unbeaten on line one this season by picking up a 6-3, 7-5 victory.
Hernandez, a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, and Glynn, a sophomore from St. Paul, Minn., also got wins in their singles matches. Hernandez won in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 while Glynn dropped set one but got a comeback win 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 to seal the win for the Tornados.
Next up, CTX will take on LeTourneau in a non-conference matchup at Riverplace Country Club on Saturday, March 10 in Austin, Texas at noon.
