ALPINE, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's tennis team opened American Southwest Conference play with a dominant 9-0 sweep of Sul Ross State at SRSU Tennis Courts Saturday.
The Tornados did not drop a set in any match on the day and moved to 7-4, 1-0 ASC on the season.
In the doubles matches, the combinations of
Hoanh Le and
Micah Austin,
Clayton Hernandez and
Adam Compton and
Isaac Glynn and Victor Escalon won their matches 8-2, 8-0 and 8-2, respectively.
Escalon was phenomenal on line six, winning both sets without losing a game 6-0, 6-0.
Le, a junior from Phan Thiet, Vietnam, continued to play well on line one this season as he won in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
Both Compton, a freshman from Pflugerville, Texas, and Austin, a senior out of Bel Air, Md., were able to win in straight sets as well, grabbing 6-0, 6-4 and 6-1, 6-3 match victories on lines two and three, respectively.
On lines four and five, Hernandez, a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, and Glynn, a sophomore out of St. Paul, Minn., won their matches to complete the sweep of the Lobos 6-0, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-0.
