AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas baseball team's American Southwest Conference tournament run came to an end on Friday, as they fell to UT Dallas 12-3 in the Championship Gold Series.
Trailing the series 1-0, the Tornados would look to bounce back against the Comets.
Concordia Texas would strike first in the third inning. After a leadoff ground-rule double by
Casen Novak,
Reed Carlton would reach on a UTD error and bring home Novak to make it 1-0.
The Comets would respond though, scoring four runs each in the next three innings to take a 12-1 lead into the sixth.
The Tornados would get a run back in the seventh and ninth on a
Cole Angelle RBI single and a
Marcus Thach double into right to make it 12-3 respectively.
UT Dallas would close out the game in the ninth though, winning the ASC Championship title 12-3.
For their performances throughout the series, Novak, Carlton,
Daniel Williams and
Caleb Rodriguez were named to the All-Tournament team.
Concordia Texas will now await the announcement of the NCAA field for the eight regional sites, which will be announced on Sunday, seeking their second straight NCAA appearance.
