BOX SCORE 3 ABILENE, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's tennis team returned to the courts at the American Southwest Conference Fall Tournament to open the 2018-19 season on Friday and Saturday.
The tournament consisted of eight flights in the singles matches and four flights in double matches.
In the singles matches, newcomer
Joshua Bode, out of Austin, Texas, finished as the runner-up for the flight A bracket, winning his first two matches in straight set, before falling the championship 6-0, 6-3.
Last season's ASC Newcomer of the Year,
Hoanh Le, won all three of his matches in flight B, including a three-set thriller in the championship match, taking it 6-3, 1-6, 10-5.
Esteban Arredondo would win two of his three matches in flight C, to finish as the runner-up of the bracket.
Adam Compton,
Evan Pena Jr. and
Jorge Garcia, meanwhile, would all win the consolation side of their respective flights for the Tornados.
On the doubles side, Bode and Le would team to win two of their three matches in flight A and claim third-place on the winner's side.
Arrredando and Garcia, meanwhile, won their first two matches to advance to flight B winner's bracket championship, but came up short, falling 8-6.
Concordia Texas will next compete in the ITA Southwest Regional on Sept. 27-30 in Abilene, Texas on the campus of McMurry University.
