Tornados in third after first day of Alamo City Classic

SAN ANTONIO – The Concordia Texas men's golf team shot a two-round score of 582 and are 10 shots back of the lead after the conclusion of the opening two rounds of the Alamo City Classic on Monday at the Quarry Golf Club.

The Tornados opened their second tournament of the season, shooting a 36-hole score of 290-292 – 582 and sit in third heading into the final round.

Tournament host Trinity leads the pack after a two-round score of 572, while University of Dallas is in second with a score of 576.

Travis Skorheim, coming off a top-10 finish last week at the Tempest Intercollegiate, continued his success on the course, finishing with the best CTX score of the day.

The Houston native opened with an even-par round of 71 and followed it up with a scorecard of 73 and sits in a tie-for-eighth with a 36-hole score of 144.

CJ Reitmeyer finished the day one shot behind Travis Skorheim after firing a two-round score of 144 and is just outside the top-10, placing in a tie-for-11th with 18 holes left to play.

Jorge Arnaud opened the day with a first round score of 73 and ended with a second round scorecard of 75. He is in a tie-for-16th with a 36-hole score of 148 and will look to move up during the final round.

Jason Diebner, who set a career-best 18-hole round at the Tempest Intercollegiate, opened with a two-over round of 73 and followed in the second round, firing a 75 and is in tie-for-18th after day one of the tournament.

Ben Constancio bounced back after a tough opening round of 79 and improved by seven strokes during the second round, turning in a one-over scorecard of 72, and sits in a tie-for-23rd going into the final 18 holes.

The Tornados will be back on the course for the final round on Tuesday, at 8:30 a.m., at the Quarry Golf Club in San Antonio.
