The Tornados played in the two-day event along with other American Southwest Conference teams, including tournament host Hardin-Simmons, McMurry, Mary Hardin-Baylor and LeTourneau.
In the first day of the event, CTX competed in singles matches against the Cowboys and YellowJackets.
Joshua Bode,
Esteban Arredondo and
Jorge Garcia all picked up wins in their matches against LETU.
Bode won in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 (1) against Julian Lee. Meanwhile, Arredondo and Garcia each split their first two sets in their matches, but came out on top in the super tiebreaker, winning 6-7 (4), 6-4, 10-8 and 1-6, 6-3 and 11-9, respectively.
In their matchup against the Cowboys, who the Tornados defeated last season to clinch the ASC Championship, CTX came up short.
On day two of the event, the Tornados played three different teams in doubles, including the Cru, the War Hawks and LeTourneau.
Concordia Texas dominated the Cru in doubles, winning three of the four matches, highlighted by Even Pena Jr. and Bode teaming up to defeat Nicolas Cusano and Tomas Barrera 8-0, while Arredondo and Garcia earned an 8-5 victory.
Joeri Bregman, the reigning ASC Freshman of the Year, and teammate
Nico De La Pena also snagged a win, defeating Andre Maltzahn and Ethan Kittredge 8-2.
The Tornados continued the winning trend in their play against McM, winning all three doubles matches.
Bode and Arredondo teamed up for an 8-6 victory, while Garcia and Pena Jr. grabbed an 8-4 win. Meanwhile, Bregman and De La Pena recorded their second doubles win of the day with an 8-4 decision against the War Hawks' Jason Cabe and Connor Hogan.
