RICHARDSON, Texas - Concordia Texas men's soccer sophomore defender
Cameron Burleson has been named the ASC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the league's office announced today. Burleson helped the Tornados cap off an undefeated regular season in conference play and an undefeated October by defeating UMHB in a convincing 5-1 decision.
Burleson and the rest of the CTX back line utilized a high win-rate on tackles to give the Tornados a heavy dose of ball possession on offense. Early in the first half, Burleson also tallied an assist off a set-piece for the first goal of the match in the victory.
Although he is a defender, Burleson is no stranger to the offensive side of the ball with two assists and one goal on the season. Since the start of conference play, Burleson and the Tornados are tied for first in the ASC in goals allowed (9) and goals per game (1.0).
You can next see Concordia Texas men's soccer when they host the ASC conference tournament at St. Edward's this week. The Tornados will host an opponent TBD determined on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m.
