AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's basketball team dominated in a 108-47 victory over Holy Patriot University. This marked the first time the Tornados cracked the century mark since a 102-48 triumph over Sul Ross on Valentine's Day 2013. Sophomore
Aniya Hicks tallied her first collegiate double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds) inside the Concordia Fieldhouse on Tuesday.
Three other Tornados reached double-figure scoring with
Havyn Perez (team-high 13 points),
Mackenzie Berger (12 points, seven rebounds) and
Madi Maxwell (12 points) reaching the plateau.
Jordan Bravo and
Mikayla Johnson did a tremendous job pressuring the Eagles defensively as they combined for nine steals.
Concordia had success throughout the lineup by outscoring Holy Patriot 63-4 in bench points. They also converted 23 turnovers into 32 points, and won the second chance battle 27-4.
A strong start saw Concordia leading 29-5 after the first quarter. CTX would also won the second (34-19) and third (29-10) quarters by double figures to cruise to the home opener victory.
Concordia Texas will now head to the UT-Dallas Classic where they will first take on Transylvania University on Friday, Nov. 18 at 3:30 p.m.
