MARSHALL, Texas – The Concordia Texas baseball team opened the weekend series with East Texas Baptist, falling to the Tigers 7-0 Thursday.
The Tornados were unable to push a run across in the game, being held to two hits, and ETBU scored five runs in the final two innings to seal the victory.
Colton Hunter was credited with the loss despite a stellar performance on the hill, scattering seven hits and allowing three runs, striking out nine along the way.
Hunter gave up two runs on three hits in the second inning before settling in, following with five scoreless frames before exiting the game in the eighth.
In the eighth inning, ETBU was able to add two more runs to the total, extending the lead to 4-0.
East Texas Baptist added three runs in the ninth inning, and
Aaron San Miguel reached base in the bottom half of the inning but was stranded. Ultimately, the Tornados dropped game one 7-0.
Otto Franz and Mason Dubois picked up the two CTX hits on the game.
The Tornados will return Friday with a chance to bounce back, playing games two and three with the Tigers at Tornado Field with the doubleheader set to start at noon.
