BOX SCORE CLARKSVILLE, Ark - The Concordia Texas women's basketball team battled in a 70-63 loss at the University of the Ozarks. Havyn Perez led all scorers with 19 points, while Chelsea Cogborn (17 points) and Madi Maxwell (15 points) also reached double figures inside Mabee Gymnasium on Saturday.
It was a back-and-forth affair in the first half that featured 17 lead changes. The Tornados trailed 32-31 before a layup by Perez sparked a 6-0 run to give Concordia a 37-32 lead at the break.Â
The Eagles scored the first bucket of the third, but a three-pointer by Bailey Andrews initiated a 7-0 burst to give CTX a double-digit lead at 44-34 with six minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Ozarks would then chisel at the lead to make it a 51-47 score heading into the final frame. The Tornados led 60-57 at the final media timeout, but the Eagles survived with a 13-3 run to end the game.
Concordia Texas will now return home to host McMurry University on January 12th. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
