AUBURNDALE, FL - The Concordia Texas baseball team split a doubleheader against Ohio Northern University. Dakota Palmer (nine strikeouts, four hits allowed) posted a complete game shutout in game one, while David Matthews also tallied a career-high seven strikeouts in game two at NorthEast Regional Park on Saturday.
GAME ONE: W, 9-0 (Seven Innings)
Aaron Gomez scored on a wild pitch to kick things off in the third inning. Later in the frame, Mason Vasquez lasered a RBI-triple to bring Julian Swift home and make it 2-0.Â
Gomez earned an RBI with a sac-fly to score Matthew Armes in the fourth inning. CTX added four runs in the fifth inning with a two-RBI, base hit by Shawn Huber scoring Vasquez and Swift to start the inning. Travis Brick was then walked with the bases loaded, and Gomez skied another sac-fly to send Huber home.
In the sixth inning, Kalen Clark doubled to right field to assist Vasquez around bases to make it 8-0. Clark would then score on an error later in the inning for the final score of the game.

Ohio Northern finally touched the runs column of the scoreboard in the first frame, but the Tornados tied the game in the second when Mason Dubois put the ball in play and Clark reached home on an error following a fielder's choice.
CTX took the lead in the top of the fifth when a base hit by Vasquez scored Gomez. The Polar Bears reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the inning with three runs for a 4-2 lead. Concordia was unable to muster another hit as Ohio Northern secured a split in the doubleheader.
