DAVENPORT, Florida - The Concordia Texas baseball team outlasted Mount Saint Mary College (N.Y.) by a score of 7-6 in 10 innings.
Aaron Gomez notched a RBI single for the walk-off win at the Russmatt Invitational finale on Sunday.
Mount Saint Mary scored one run in the top of the first, but a RBI-double by
Chris Morrow scored Gomez to knot the game up at 1-1. Both teams were scoreless in the second and third innings, and the Knights took a 3-1 advantage when they capitalized on an error in the fourth. They would then homer in the top of the ninth frame for a 4-1 lead.Â
Down to their last two outs,
Zach Seigrist and Gomez notched back-to-back RBIs to tie up the game. In the extra inning, Mount Saint Mary tacked on two runs for a 6-4 lead. Great at-bats would load the bases for CTX as
Robert Villa was walked and Seigrist was hit by a pitch to tie the game. Gomez would step up to the plate and put the ball into play for a RBI-walk off.
After a successful road trip, Concordia Texas will return home for ASC play where they will host LeTourneau for a series starting Friday, March 17th.
