Baseball Drops Game One Against UT-Dallas

Chris Morrow tallied his fourth homer of the season.

AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas baseball team dropped the series opener by a score of 10-6 against UT-Dallas. Junior first baseman Chris Morrow powered his fourth homer of the season, while freshman outfielder Julian Swift notched his eighth straight game with a hit at Gardner-Boggs Field on Friday.

The Comets used a lead-off homer and two base hits to take an early 2-0 lead. CTX cut into the deficit in the bottom of the second when their first hit of the game was a solo homer powered to right field by Morrow. They then tied the game when Swift connected on a RBI-fielder's a choice with the bases loaded to score Robert Villa.

In the top of the fourth, UT-Dallas rattled off four runs to reclaim the advantage at 6-3. CTX made it 6-4 when Brandon Goynes got a great jump from second and scored off a RBI-groundout by Mason Vasquez.

The Comets added one run in the seventh and three in the eighth to win game one to take control at 10-5. A double to right field by Morrow resulted in Bailey Figueroa pinch running for him and rounding the bases in the bottom of the eighth. Goynes would continue his hot night with a RBI-triple in the final run of the game with Huber scoring in the final inning.

Concordia Texas will look to bounce back when they resume the series with UT-Dallas on Saturday. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
