AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas baseball team split a doubleheader with UT-Dallas. CTX dropped game one 3-2 and were victorious 10-5 in the series finale at Gardner-Boggs Field on Saturday.
GAME ONE: L, 3-2 (Seven Innings)
CTX raced out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning with back-to-back RBI doubles by Brandon Goynes and Chris Morrow.
Neither team would make much noise offensively through innings two-five. UT-Dallas tied the game up in the sixth with a two-RBI double, and then claimed the lead with a RBI-single in the top of the seventh. With CTX down to their final three outs, the Tornados got off to a promising start with a leadoff walk for Julian Swift. However, the Comets would hold off and record the final outs to claim the win.

GAME TWO: W, 10-5
Neither team broke until the scoring column through the first three innings. UT-Dallas loaded the bases with no outs, and recorded two runs in the top of the fourth for the lead.
Concordia knotted the game up in the bottom of the frame when Matthew Armes blasted a two-RBI double to left center to bring home Morrow and Landon Hyle. They then took the lead in the fifth when Robert Villa converted on a beautiful suicide squeeze to bring home Swift, and Aaron Gomez sprinted home following a passed ball for a 4-2 edge.
CTX upped their lead to 6-2 in the sixth when EJ Sanchez and Swift connected on RBIs. They then hung three more runs with a RBI by Armes and two-RBI hit by Seigrist in the following inning.
The Comets made it a 9-4 game with two runs in the eighth, but Gomez secured the final run of the game in the bottom of the inning when he scored on a wild pitch for a 10-4 lead. UT-Dallas loaded the bases in the final inning and tacked on one more run, but Noah Kelley came in to help record the final outs in the series finale victory.
