Chris Morrow Homers Three Times as Baseball Claims Game Three Against Sul Ross

The junior is the first Tornado to homer three times in a game since 2003.

AUSTIN, Texas - Concordia Texas baseball junior first baseman Chris Morrow tied the program's single-game record with three homeruns in a 14-7 win over Sul Ross State University. The Tornados erased a 5-0 deficit to come back and claim the series victory at Gardner-Boggs Field on Saturday.

The Tornados jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first frame. They then added two more runs in the third. CTX cut into the lead in the bottom of the inning with a Mason Vasquez sacrifice fly to score Julian Swift. They put two runners in scoring position in the bottom of the fourth, and scored both Matthew Armes and Landon Hyle on suicide squeezes to make it 5-3.

Upping their lead to 7-3, Sul Ross converted with a two-out, two-run double in the top of the fifth. Morrow answered and got the two runs back in the following half inning with a homer to right field.

Concordia made it a 7-6 game when Swift slapped a RBI-double to right field to score Hyle in the bottom of the sixth. CTX then claimed their first lead of the game at 9-7 when Morrow sent a 400-foot homer into the student's parking lot in right field. Still in the same inning with two outs and the bases loaded, Hyle lifted a two-run centerfield single to make it 11-7. EJ Sanchez would then tack on the seventh run of the day when he scored Armes.

Putting on the finishing touches of his historic day, Morrow cranked another 400-foot homer to right field for the final three runs of the game.

Concordia Texas will remain in Austin for their final home series against McMurry starting next Friday, April 21. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
