AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas baseball team overcame a late deficit in a 3-2, 10-inning decision over McMurry University.
Robert Villarreal secured the game winning run off a wild pitch inside Gardner-Boggs Field on Friday.
The Warhawks scored one run in the first inning. With both pitchers and their defenses on a heater, neither team would record another run from the second through sixth inning.
McMurry made it a 2-0 game when they tacked on one more run in the top of the seventh. In search of a comeback, Zach Seigrist punched a two-out double to left field to get onto scoring position. However, the Warhawks would record the third out to escape the inning unscathed.
Aaron Gomez reached second in the bottom of the eighth, and Kalen Clark blooped a hit to right field to cut the deficit in half. In the final inning with runners on the corners, Seigrist connected on a fielder's choice bunt to bring home Brandon Goynes as the tying run to send the game into extra innings. CTX would put two runners in scoring position in the 10th, before Villarreal pinch scored the final run on a wild pitch.
Concordia Texas will now host McMurry in a doubleheader for Senior Day beginning at 12 p.m. The Senior Day ceremony will be held immediately after game one.
