CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The Concordia Texas baseball team was downed 8-7 in the series finale at the University of the Ozarks. The Tornados won the series with a pair of wins in the Thursday doubleheader at Lonnie Qualls Field.
The Eagles went up 3-0 in the first inning follow an error and two-run homer. Cutting down on the deficit,
Shawn Huber smacked a RBI-double down the left field line while
Chris Morrow collected a RBI-double up the right field line to make it 3-2 in the top of the third. The Ozarks would make it 4-2 after three innings following a base hit with runners on the corners.Â
Rookie catcher
Jess Lollar would knot the game up in the fourth with a two-RBI double that cradled the right field line to score
Robert Villa and
Matthew Armes.They would then claim their first lead of the game at 5-4 when
Aaron Gomez hit a blooper to centerfield to bring home Lollar.
The Ozarks knotted the game up at 5-all in the bottom of the fifth, but a RBI-single up the middle by
Julian Swift and a sac-bunt by Huber would give CTX a 7-5 advantage in the sixth. The Eagles would cut the lead down to 7-6 in the seventh inning, and then escape with a walk-off win by posting two runs in the final frame.
