AUSTIN
, Texas – We are saddened to learn of the passing of Melvin Molina. Along with the entire Concordia University Texas community, we express our deepest condolences and heartfelt love and support to Melvin's family, friends, and community.

Molina was selected to the Second Team All-Region and was named the ASC's Midfielder of the Year in 2022. He was a two-time All-ASC First Team selection. The San Marcos, Texas native led the conference in assists (13) his sophomore season, and he is the single-season and career assist record holder where he currently sits at 23. He also holds the school's record for the most multi-assists matches in a season with five. Melvin excelled in the classroom as well. He was a member of the 2021-22 ASC All-Academic team.

"The world lost a truly special individual in Melvin. He was well known for his soccer talent but Melvin was an even better person. His teammates remember him as a genuine human being that lived life with so much joy. His smile brightened every room he entered," said Nick Mims, head coach of the Concordia Texas men's soccer team. "Concordia Soccer was truly lucky to have him apart of our program. We wish Melvin's family our sincerest condolences and pray for them in this difficult time."
