RICHARDSON, Texas - The Concordia University Texas cross country program swept the American Southwest Conference Runner of the Week awards for the first time in eight years.
Kamron Loera and
Ashley Rivera were named the ASC Runners of the Week for their exceptional performances at the 47th annual Rice Invitational last weekend, the league's office announced on Tuesday.
Loera (San Antonio, Texas) notched another Concordia Texas men's team record as he clocked in at 16:25.1 in the 5.2k race on Friday. In a race originally scheduled as a 6k, Loera earned an 11th-place finish and once again defeated numerous Division I representatives. The Tornados finished 10th as a team that raced against several in the field that were NCAA Division I and came in second among NCAA Division III teams.Loera has won the men's runner of the week award consecutive weeks.Â

Rivera (Garland, Texas) paced the Tornados in the 4k at the Rice Invitational last week. In her second collegiate race, Rivera placed 65th at a race that featured mostly NCAA Division I runners and had a time of 19:27.8.
