FOREST GROVE, Oregon - The Concordia Texas women's basketball team was downed in a 98-62 decision against Pacific University in Day One of the Ken Schumann Classic. Daysha Tijerina & Destiny Mathews tallied a team-high 12 points apiece inside the Stoller Center on Friday.
A pair of layups by Mathews and a bucket by Katelyn Tietjen made it a 6-6 game midway through the first quarter. Pacific would end the quarter on a 21-6 run & would use that momentum to carry a 59-28 lead into the break.
Trying to trim down the deficit, Madison Martinez found Sam Ising for a mid-range jumper where the Tornados cut it down to 22 with three minutes left in the game. Pacific would ultimately nurse their lead to a victory.
Concordia will look to bounce back immediately as they will take on Linfield in day two of the Classic tomorrow at 4pm (CST).
