FOREST GROVE, Oregon - The Concordia Texas women's basketball team was bested by a score of 70-54 against Linfield University in day two of the Ken Schumann Classic. Destiny Mathews (23 points) & Kiki Gonzales (12 rebounds) both posted game-highs inside the Stoller Center on Saturday.
With the score tied 4-4 early in the first quarter, Linfield scored six straight points for a slight advantage. Concordia would finish the quarter strong as Gonzales found Mathews in the paint to cap off a run to make it a 12-10 game.
Linfield led 14-11 heading intro the second frame. Following a tree by Kayla Stainthorp for a 22-18 score with 6:44 remaining, a burst by Linfield gave them a 43-25 lead at the half.
A late rally by the Tornados would cut the deficit to as low as 14 points with just under eight minutes late in the game, but Linfield would go on to hold off the comeback attempt.
