PARKLAND, Washington - The Concordia Texas women's basketball team earned their first road win of the season in a 66-59 triumph over Pacific Lutheran.
Kiki Gonzales led all scorers with a season high of 22 points and a game-high nine rebounds inside Olson Auditorium.
The score was knotted up at 11-all with just over two minutes left in the first quarter, before Gonzales capped off the quarter with five straight points. CTX would continue their run in the second frame as their lead would reach as much as 25-13 following a mid-range jumper by
Destiny Mathews at the 7:22 mark. Both teams kept pace throughout the remainder of the half as Concordia carried a 32-22 lead into the intermission.
With Concordia leading by seven midway through the third, the Tornados took control with a 21-8 surge for their largest lead of the game at 54-34 with 53 second left in the third. The Lutes chipped away at the deficit and cut it to single digits with 5:05 left in the game.Â
keeping up the momentum, the Lutes made it a 62-59 game with the ball and 1:08 left on the clock. CTX would get the stop and freshman guard
Katelyn Tietjen knocked down a pair of free throws with 32 seconds left as Concordia would fend off PLU for the win.Â
