Baseball Battles George Fox in Extra Innings of the Tommy Boggs Classic

Dakota Palmer tossed 100 pitches in 7.0 innings.

AUSTIN, Texas - In the final game of the Tommy Boggs Classic, the Concordia Texas baseball team battled in an 11-inning 4-2 loss against George Fox University. Senior pitcher Dakota Palmer shined in a 7.0 inning, 100 pitches gem at Gardner-Boggs Field on Sunday.

George Fox notched one run in the top of the first. The Tornados tied the game up with three hit batsmen and a walk in the second inning.

Following a stellar outing by Palmer, the Bruins broke through for a 2-1 lead in the top of the eighth. In the bottom half of the inning, Kalen Clark smacked a leadoff double to put Concordia in scoring position. A RBI-single by Matthew Armes then scored Clark to tie the game up.

With the bases loaded and only one out in the bottom of the 10th, CTX seemed primed for the win but the Bruins would survive the inning with a 6-2-5 double play. They then scored the go-ahead run with a RBI-triple and another insurance run in the eleventh.

Concordia Texas will now hit the road for the first time this season where they will take on UMHB in the first conference series of the season. First pitch is set for Friday, February 23rd at 6pm.
